Mental health of workers in fulfillment centers supported by being part of peer-based support groups

January 20, 2026

A study by researchers affiliated with the Work and Well-being Initiative is shedding light on workers in fulfillment centers in the e-commerce segment of the warehousing and storage industry—a growing and important industry. Findings suggest that opportunities for workers to share concerns with a committee of their peers (“Health and Well-being Committees” (HaWCs)) tasked with identifying solutions can support mental health. The study contributes important experimental evidence on workplace interventions that improve the well-being of low-wage U.S. populations.
